Mansfield Reformatory

What to know about Mansfield Reformatory

This is a place with rich history dating back to as early as 1896 when it was first used for the purpose of rehabilitating minor offenders. The plan worked for a while until later on in the 1960s when state funding was withdrawn and the facility was fully turned into a prison. It got closed in 1990 as a result of a lawsuit that was filed by inmates due to poor conditions. Afterwards, a group of activists bought it for a dollar and started the work of restoration to make it into what it is today, a historical establishment with a lot to offer to the public.
